Replacement: EGR valve β FORD FIESTA VI Van. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. Step 4. Clean the EGR valve. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. Step 5. Detach the EGR valve connector. Step 6. Remove the EGR valve hose clamp.
As my car was experiencing these symptoms, I decided to clean out the EGR valve and inlet manifold to try and restore the engines performance. The photo sequence that follows shows the work involved on a 2004 Ford Mondeo 130 TDCi βEuro4β, though I am sure other models will be similar.
Except for one code, P042f - EGR valve stuck closed. I cleaned the EGR and inlet manifold. But even after cleaning (and clearing DTCs) the EGR flags up the same fault code. Van occasionally feels very low on power at low revs, to the extent that it will barely accelerate in 1st gear, until revs are up to close to 2k.
